The Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) was developed by the HSE and was made law under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
type & frequency of testing
Initial LOLER test & certification - To be completed upon installation & before first use of the system which includes a physical load test under real working conditions. This test should be completed before any of the building fabric is completed around the equipment.
6 monthly visual & thorough inspection - At regular intervals, a thorough examination is required and includes a comprehensive assessment of the equipment's structural integrity, mechanical components, safety features & any wear & tear
